About My Approach
Organizations rarely struggle because they lack good intentions. More often, they struggle because they are working from incomplete information, unclear assumptions, or poorly defined problems.
My work begins where most consulting ends—not with an answer, but with a better question.
Ask better questions.
Gather better information.
Make better decisions.
How My Perspective Developed
Start with the Individual
Vocational Rehabilitation
Counseling
I began by helping individuals understand their strengths, limitations, work capacity, and career possibilities. Every recommendation depended on understanding one person's unique situation.
Expanded to Organizations
Leadership & Program Evaluation
Leading rehabilitation programs shifted my focus from individual cases to organizational performance. I learned how leadership, incentives, measurement, and culture shape outcomes long before they appear in reports.
Stepped Back to Study
Research & Counselor Education
Teaching graduate students and conducting research allowed me to examine rehabilitation from a systems perspective. Instead of asking what works in one case, I began asking why certain approaches consistently succeed—or fail—across organizations.
Today
Independent Consultant
Today I combine those perspectives to help organizations navigate complex disability and employment challenges. I don't approach problems only as a counselor, manager, researcher, or educator. I draw on each perspective to help clients see what others often miss.
How I Work
Understand before recommending.
Define the problem before proposing a solution.
Look beyond the obvious.
The most valuable information is often the information no one thought to collect.
Separate evidence from assumption.
Distinguish facts, conclusions, uncertainty, and limitations.
Recommend what matters.
Practical recommendations grounded in evidence—not paperwork.
Why Clients Hire Me
Every engagement is different, but the objective is always the same: bring clarity to complex decisions. Whether evaluating a program, consulting with an employer, training professionals, or analyzing vocational issues, I help leaders understand what matters most before deciding what to do next.
