Feed Your Brain Like It Matters

You’re not broken — you’re just running low on fuel.
Most people don’t burn out because they’re weak. They burn out because their biology has been overdrawn — too much output, not enough nourishment. When your body’s chemistry is strained, your spirit starts to feel it. That’s not failure. That’s physiology.

Your brain is only about two percent of your body weight, yet it consumes nearly
twenty percent of your energy. It’s a demanding organ — and it runs on the same metabolism that powers your muscles and heart. Feed it erratically, and it sputters. Feed it steadily, and it sings.
When we crash mid-day or spiral emotionally, we often blame character or willpower. But the truth is simpler: blood sugar swings and inflammation can make the mind feel anxious, irritable, or detached. Your emotions are not moral defects; they’re data points from your body.
Grace begins when we stop treating exhaustion as a sin and start treating it as a signal.

You don’t need a perfect plan — just a livable rhythm. For many, that looks like one of three stable patterns:
Mediterranean: colorful, balanced, anti-inflammatory.
Low-Carb or Keto: steadier energy and fewer mental crashes.
Intermittent Fasting: simplicity that gives the body rest.
Each of these stabilizes blood sugar, calms inflammation, and supports the gut — where most serotonin and dopamine are made. The goal isn’t intensity; it’s sustainability. The “best” plan is the one that lets you think clearly, laugh freely, and show up with compassion.
Start small. Add protein to breakfast. Add color to your plate. Sit still long enough to taste your food. These small acts are not about self-optimization — they’re about stewardship. Caring for your body as part of your calling.
When your brain is fed, your faith expands. You see others with patience and humor again. That’s not mysticism; it’s chemistry redeemed.
